Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys let Pierce fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Hollin Pierce, the No. 135 name on the board, sitting there at pick 204 like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Hemingway has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 12 they get a featured back, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tetairoa McMillan
They robbed the room for Tetairoa McMillan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick76 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas slipping to slot 76 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jalen Milroe
They barely believed it either: Jalen Milroe still on the board at No. 149. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick171 Rnd5 Nohl Williams
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nohl Williams in the 171st overall pick, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
No drama and no debate, Jack Kiser went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204 Rnd6 Hollin Pierce
You do not let an offensive lineman like Hollin Pierce reach pick 204 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick211 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in Round 6, Pick 35 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick239 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
A big swing on Tonka Hemingway at No. 239, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
Pick247 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
They took Hayden Conner at par in the 247th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
