Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Cowboys: B. There is reaching, and then there is Jasheen Davis at pick 247. The Cowboys jumped the board by 108 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Landing Bryant that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan in pick No. 12 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick44
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at slot 44 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76
Rnd3
Azareye'h Thomas
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Azareye'h Thomas graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in Round 5, Pick 11 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick171
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in the 171st overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174
Rnd5
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard at pick 174 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick204
Rnd6
Willie Lampkin
Somehow Willie Lampkin was still sitting there in No. 204, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick211
Rnd6
Carson Vinson
A reach on Carson Vinson in Round 6, Pick 35; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick239
Rnd7
Cam Horsley
The board had Cam Horsley higher than slot 239, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick247
Rnd7
Jasheen Davis
Jasheen Davis in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
