HR DRAFTING FOR THECowboys
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

ValueB
NeedB+

FutureB-
The Cowboys checked most of the boxes and earned a B. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Trey Moore at slot 172 is 99 spots clear of where he belonged.
They banked enough surplus on Arroyo to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the 12th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44
Rnd2
Jahdae Barron
You do not let a cornerback like Jahdae Barron reach No. 44 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick76
Rnd3
T.J. Sanders
They barely believed it either: T.J. Sanders still on the board at slot 76. It fills a real need, too.
Pick150
Rnd5
Devin Neal
Devin Neal in pick 150 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick170
Rnd5
Tyler Cooper
They paid sticker price for Tyler Cooper in Round 5, Pick 33, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick172
Rnd5
Trey Moore
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Moore. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick174
Rnd5
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at the 174th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
They did well to land Jaylen Reed in pick No. 190, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick211
Rnd6
KJ Jefferson
KJ Jefferson in Round 6, Pick 36 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick249
Rnd7
Trey Wedig
A real head-scratcher, Trey Wedig in slot 249 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
