Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Saints cashed the board's mistake on Singleton: B+.

The board owed the Saints one, and it paid up: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 100 name on the board, sitting there at pick 185 like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Higgins has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Saints indulged a want in Mukuba while a need in edge rusher, cornerback and other spots stayed open.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In the 15th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick16 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick20 Rnd1 Tate Ratledge
In the 20th pick they get a long-term starter on the line, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
They robbed the room for Malaki Starks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jayden Higgins in pick 49, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick51 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at pick No. 51 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick58 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at slot 58 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jihaad Campbell in No. 74, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick80 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
A running back of that caliber at slot 80 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick85 Rnd3 Jack Bech
A premium they did not need to pay, Jack Bech a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jake Majors
No drama and no debate, Jake Majors went about where he belonged in No. 90. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick117 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 16, where Luke Kandra graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
A want over a need in pick 128: Andrew Mukuba adds a safety while edge rusher, cornerback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick152 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in pick No. 152, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick185 Rnd6 Nicholas Singleton
Taking Nicholas Singleton in the 185th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick253 Rnd7 Karene Reid
Steal is underselling it; Karene Reid at the 253rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
