Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Browns bled value on every deal, hence the C.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Browns spent the Round 6 slot on Tyler Batty, a name most had 120 spots down the list. A mixed bag that lands at C.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.

If Kenneth Grant and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kenneth Grant. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Warren at the 58th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick67 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ajani Cornelius this early at the Round 3 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick94 Rnd3 Will Howard
Will Howard at slot 94 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
A running back of that caliber at the 102nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 Cody Simon
Taking Cody Simon in Round 5, Pick 26 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick165 Rnd5 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in No. 165 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick177 Rnd6 Tyler Batty
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyler Batty. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick190 Rnd6 Will Sheppard
A real head-scratcher, Will Sheppard in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick198 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick214 Rnd6 PJ Williams
They reached a country mile for PJ Williams at the 214th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215 Rnd6 Garrett Dellinger
This one needs a full-page explanation: Garrett Dellinger in pick No. 215, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick256 Rnd7 Jacobe Covington
Jacobe Covington at Round 7, Pick 40 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
