The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Kool-Aid McKinstry, the No. 19 name on the board, sitting there at the 52nd pick like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. It is not that Van Pran is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
