The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

They are betting Van Pran proves the room right and everyone else wrong. With edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
