Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueA NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Browns watched Trevor Goosby slide 216 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Whatever Darian Mensah becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They went 4 of 4 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Their trades came out a wash either way.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Darian Mensah
In slot 13 they get a passer to set the clock by, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick17 Rnd1 Yhonzae Pierre
In the 17th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Circle this one: Will Echoles at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick89 Rnd3 KJ Duff
They barely believed it either: KJ Duff still on the board at Round 3, Pick 25. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick117 Rnd4 Kelley Jones
They will replay Kelley Jones at pick No. 117 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick119 Rnd4 Trey'Dez Green
A tight end of that caliber at slot 119 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jadan Baugh
Taking Jadan Baugh in pick 128 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick141 Rnd5 Cayden Green
Cayden Green in the 141st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick153 Rnd5 Keon Sabb
You do not let a safety like Keon Sabb reach the 153rd overall pick and blink. They did not. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick162 Rnd5 Sammy Brown
Sammy Brown in No. 162 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick227 Rnd7 Trevor Goosby
Steal is underselling it; Trevor Goosby at slot 227 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick238 Rnd7 A'Mauri Washington
The board fumbled A'Mauri Washington all the way to pick No. 238, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
