Mungoxpungo DRAFTING FOR THEGiants
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Giants kept it disciplined and banked a B. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Giants did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most.
However the rest shakes out, Daniels at that price is a win they earned. Reaching for Wilson left real value on the table behind him.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In the Round 1 slot they get a two-high chess piece. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37
Rnd2
Brandon Cisse
Brandon Cisse in No. 37 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick105
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
They took Chase Bisontis at par in pick 105, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick143
Rnd5
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at the 143rd pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick184
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister at Round 6, Pick 5 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick190
Rnd6
Bud Clark
Fair-plus on Bud Clark, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick191
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson in pick No. 191 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
