Draft Grade — Commanders

Williams should have been long gone. The Commanders pounced, and earned a B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Nohl Williams, the No. 177 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot.
Every board in the league had Ivey lower, and that gap is the story. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In slot 29 they get a two-high chess piece, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jared Ivey
Jared Ivey at Round 2, Pick 29 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick128
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick 128 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Roc Taylor
A slide stopped in the 205th pick, with Roc Taylor worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick236
Rnd7
Upton Stout
You do not let a safety like Upton Stout reach No. 236 and blink. They did not. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick248
Rnd7
Nohl Williams
The board fumbled Nohl Williams all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
