Abney II should have been long gone. The Cardinals pounced, and earned a B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Keith Abney II, the No. 87 name on the board, stolen at Round 4, Pick 13. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Orange to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In pick No. 16 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick47
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the 47th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick78
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange at pick 78 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick115
Rnd4
Keith Abney II
They will replay Keith Abney II at No. 115 for years; that is how good the value is. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick152
Rnd5
J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 14 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick225
Rnd7
Miller Moss
Miller Moss in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
