Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Panthers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Panthers never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Zabien Brown
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51 Rnd2 Luke Montgomery
Luke Montgomery in slot 51 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick83 Rnd3 Evan Tengesdahl
Evan Tengesdahl in the 83rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119 Rnd4 C.J. Fite
By-the-book stuff, C.J. Fite at pick 119 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick156 Rnd5 Luke Reynolds
A clean, defensible pick in the 156th pick with a little surplus value in Luke Reynolds. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick157 Rnd5 Sammy Omosigho
No drama and no debate, Sammy Omosigho went about where he belonged in No. 157. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick198 Rnd6 Amare Campbell
No edge and no loss on Amare Campbell in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick235 Rnd7 Da'Shawn Womack
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Da'Shawn Womack. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
