Draft Grade — Texans

Grand theft in Round 4, Pick 23: the Texans steal Johnson and grade out a B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Kaleb Johnson tumbling to the Texans in the Round 4 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Sheppard has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Tate Ratledge
In slot 23 they get a building block for the line, even if it was a touch early.
Pick54 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Warren at No. 54 is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick88 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
They robbed the room for Xavier Watts here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick124 Rnd4 Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson in Round 4, Pick 23 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166 Rnd5 Logan Jones
They went early on Logan Jones in pick No. 166, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick239 Rnd7 Will Sheppard
They reached into another round for Will Sheppard, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
