Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B

Grand theft in the Round 5 slot: the Bengals steal Sainristil and grade out a B.

Somebody in the 173rd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Mike Sainristil, the No. 135 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Every board in the league had Wiley lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
They barely believed it either: Nate Wiggins still on the board at No. 49. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick80 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
They robbed the room for Ja'Lynn Polk here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick115 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen is a better player than the 115th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick151 Rnd5 Kris Abrams-Draine
Circle this one: Kris Abrams-Draine at pick 151 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick173 Rnd5 Mike Sainristil
Steal is underselling it; Mike Sainristil at the 173rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jawhar Jordan
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jawhar Jordan in slot 238, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick254 Rnd7 Jared Wiley
They talked themselves into Jared Wiley at the 254th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
