Draft Grade — Bears

FutureD+
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: C+. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
Every board in the league had Rice lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick17
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get protection for the quarterback, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49
Rnd2
Adisa Isaac
They took Adisa Isaac at par in the 49th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick115
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in pick 115, more than the board wanted. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick122
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 122 with a little surplus value in Elijah Jones. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick220
Rnd6
Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield in the 220th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jalen Sundell
No edge and no loss on Jalen Sundell in No. 246; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
