If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bengals would have aced it. Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick 49 is 109 spots clear of where he belonged. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.

Gordon II at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Spending an early pick on edge rusher with cornerback, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
