Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C
ValueA+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Steelers let Dennis-Sutton fall and pounced. Final grade: C.

Call it larceny. Dani Dennis-Sutton sat on the board until pick 234, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The Steelers indulged a want in Fano while a need in interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots stayed open.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

If Kadyn Proctor and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
They let Kadyn Proctor come to them and pounced at pick 19. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick52 Rnd2 LT Overton
LT Overton in No. 52 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick79 Rnd3 Jermod McCoy
Somehow Jermod McCoy was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 15, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick83 Rnd3 LaNorris Sellers
Circle this one: LaNorris Sellers at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99 Rnd3 Cashius Howell
Cashius Howell in the 99th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick120 Rnd4 CJ Allen
They robbed the room for CJ Allen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick133 Rnd4 Spencer Fano
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots to take Spencer Fano, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Pick159 Rnd5 Dillon Thieneman
A safety of that caliber at slot 159 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Daylen Everette
They barely believed it either: Daylen Everette still on the board at No. 214. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick234 Rnd7 Dani Dennis-Sutton
They will replay Dani Dennis-Sutton at slot 234 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
