Mel DRAFTING FOR THEBills

Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Fadil Diggs at pick 173 is 62 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The Bills indulged a want in Dotson while a need in safety, quarterback and other spots stayed open. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
The Kiser value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In No. 30 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
A tidy bit of business in the 56th pick, where Tyleik Williams graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
Nothing to complain about; Jayden Higgins went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish at slot 109 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick132
Rnd4
Mello Dotson
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Mello Dotson adds a cornerback and leaves safety, quarterback and other spots untouched.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaydon Blue. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick170
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
They paid sticker price for Ajani Cornelius in No. 170, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick173
Rnd5
Fadil Diggs
Fadil Diggs in Round 5, Pick 35 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick177
Rnd6
Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty at the 177th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in pick No. 206 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
