Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets bet the future on Manning. The board says B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Arch Manning is the Jets' quarterback, full stop.

The cost of the McCullough reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Campbell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Arch Manning
In slot 4 they get their quarterback of the future. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36 Rnd2 Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor in the 36th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104 Rnd4 Amare Campbell
Amare Campbell is a better player than Round 4, Pick 2 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick139 Rnd5 Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson at No. 139 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182 Rnd6 Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet at pick No. 182 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick197 Rnd6 Dasan McCullough
Dasan McCullough in pick 197 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jalen Thompson
Jalen Thompson at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick210 Rnd6 Riley Mahlman
A straight-up fair deal on Riley Mahlman at the 210th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick251 Rnd7 Evan Tengesdahl
A big swing on Evan Tengesdahl at pick 251, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick253 Rnd7 Jehiem Oatis
Jehiem Oatis in the 253rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
