Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesD+ FutureA
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Jets and Simon: B.

Somebody in No. 188 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jets sat still while Cody Simon, the No. 136 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Ewers to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In the 17th pick they get a load in the middle, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in the 42nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick81 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
They went early on Quinn Ewers in pick No. 81, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Charles Grant
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Charles Grant. It fills a real need, too.
Pick109 Rnd4 Ozzy Trapilo
A slide stopped in slot 109, with Ozzy Trapilo worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick118 Rnd4 Jake Majors
They let Jake Majors come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 17. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick146 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
Steal is underselling it; Hollin Pierce at No. 146 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick157 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Oronde Gadsden II graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick188 Rnd6 Cody Simon
Cody Simon at No. 188 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick209 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
You do not let a wide receiver like Dont'e Thornton Jr. reach slot 209 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
