Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Cardinals let Wheatley fall and pounced. Final grade: D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cardinals shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Zuhn III left real value on the table behind him. Wheatley falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In pick No. 12 they get a long-term starter on the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at slot 35 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick39 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Anthony Hill Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick44 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Olaivavega Ioane. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70 Rnd3 LaNorris Sellers
Quietly one of the better values of the day, LaNorris Sellers at pick 70. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick105 Rnd4 Zakee Wheatley
They barely believed it either: Zakee Wheatley still on the board at the 105th pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick111 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen at Round 4, Pick 11 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148 Rnd5 Logan Jones
A reasonable price with a little left over, Logan Jones in the 148th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick186 Rnd6 Aamil Wagner
They did well to land Aamil Wagner in slot 186, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick221 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
DeAndre Moore Jr. in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
They went early on Trey Zuhn III in pick 227, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
