Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB
The Cardinals won the night they stopped Allar from sliding. Grade: D-.

The Cardinals lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Green pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Allar falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick 8 they get a downhill hitter at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at Round 2, Pick 7 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick45 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane at No. 45 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Cayden Green
A real head-scratcher, Cayden Green in the 70th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick105 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
No drama and no debate, Harold Perkins Jr. went about where he belonged in slot 105. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick116 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Domani Jackson at pick No. 116, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick144 Rnd5 Eric Rivers
By-the-book stuff, Eric Rivers at pick No. 144 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick188 Rnd6 Drew Allar
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Drew Allar in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick222 Rnd7 Jordan Castell
They jumped the gun on Jordan Castell, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick231 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in Round 7, Pick 16 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
