Echoles should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B-.

Somebody in the 76th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Steelers sat still while Will Echoles, the No. 14 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Jagusah has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Coleman pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, edge rusher and other spots.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Cam Coleman
A want over a need in pick No. 15: Cam Coleman adds a wide receiver while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick43 Rnd2 KJ Bolden
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, KJ Bolden adds a safety and leaves quarterback, edge rusher and other spots untouched.
Pick76 Rnd3 Will Echoles
The board fumbled Will Echoles all the way to pick 76, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick82 Rnd3 Keon Sabb
A surprising call. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still to address, they spent slot 82 on Keon Sabb, a safety they were not short of.
Pick155 Rnd5 Xavier Lucas
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Lucas at Round 5, Pick 18, value and slot in agreement. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick196 Rnd6 Kayin Lee
Kayin Lee at the 196th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick198 Rnd6 Eugene Wilson III
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Eugene Wilson III graded well above the range. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick223 Rnd7 Charles Jagusah
Value said wait; Charles Jagusah in the 223rd overall pick says they were not listening. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick233 Rnd7 Sammy Omosigho
Steal is underselling it; Sammy Omosigho at slot 233 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
