After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. J.J. McCarthy is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If Guerendo pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

Rice at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
