Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Seahawks and Neal: D. You build a draft on nights like this. Devin Neal had no business being available in pick No. 173, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
In No. 18 they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the 50th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick82
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
A tidy little value on Tate Ratledge in pick No. 82, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick137
Rnd4
Mason Taylor
You do not let a tight end like Mason Taylor reach Round 4, Pick 36 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick145
Rnd5
Sebastian Castro
They barely believed it either: Sebastian Castro still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick173
Rnd5
Devin Neal
Devin Neal in slot 173 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick212
Rnd6
Ja'Corey Brooks
No edge and no loss on Ja'Corey Brooks in pick 212; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick236
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
