VICCITYHAWKER DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

ValueB-
NeedB

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Seahawks, and a B- to prove it. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Seahawks spent the 235th overall pick on Jack Westover, a name most had 85 spots down the list. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Mahogany to cover a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the 25th pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Nothing to complain about; Payton Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaden Hicks. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick108
Rnd4
Maason Smith
They took Maason Smith at par in No. 108, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick118
Rnd4
Christian Mahogany
They will replay Christian Mahogany at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick157
Rnd5
Dillon Johnson
A reach on Dillon Johnson in pick No. 157; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick179
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A real head-scratcher, Jared Wiley in pick No. 179 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
Value said wait; Drake Nugent in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick235
Rnd7
Jack Westover
Jack Westover at Round 7, Pick 15 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
