Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB+
A passer of the future in Daniels, and a B+, for the Bears.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Edwards. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in the 35th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin in No. 38 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick66 Rnd3 Ricky Pearsall
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ricky Pearsall in slot 66. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick69 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at the 69th overall pick is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cade Stover
Cade Stover in pick No. 75 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick105 Rnd4 Mike Sainristil
Taking Mike Sainristil in pick 105 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
No drama and no debate, Tyler Davis went about where he belonged in the 122nd pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick221 Rnd7 Daijun Edwards
A running back of that caliber at slot 221 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
