Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall A-
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB+
The Eagles let Brown fall and pounced. Final grade: A-.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Zabien Brown, slot 97, roughly 59 picks past where he belonged. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Matayo Uiagalelei
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick64 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Taking Will Echoles in No. 64 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick79 Rnd3 KJ Duff
Circle this one: KJ Duff at pick 79 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick97 Rnd3 Zabien Brown
They barely believed it either: Zabien Brown still on the board at the 97th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112 Rnd4 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
They took Quincy Rhodes Jr. at par in the 112th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Brandon Baker
The board had Brandon Baker higher than Round 4, Pick 21, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Pick156 Rnd5 Amare Ferrell
Amare Ferrell at slot 156 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick157 Rnd5 Antwan Raymond
Antwan Raymond in pick No. 157 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick167 Rnd5 Drake Lindsey
Drake Lindsey slid further than he should have, and pick No. 167 is lovely value for the quarterback. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick229 Rnd7 Lawson Luckie
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Lawson Luckie at the 229th pick is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick231 Rnd7 Quay'sheed Scott
Quay'sheed Scott in No. 231 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick240 Rnd7 C.J. Fite
C.J. Fite at pick 240 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
