Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Vikings: B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Vikings did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

On value alone, Bassa makes the weekend a net positive. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
By-the-book stuff, Omarion Hampton at the 33rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in Round 3, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
No edge and no loss on Zy Alexander in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jeffrey Bassa
A slide stopped in pick No. 139, with Jeffrey Bassa worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick197 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
A clean, defensible pick in No. 197 with a little surplus value in Oronde Gadsden II. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick200 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith at slot 200 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
The board had Jason Marshall Jr. higher than the 216th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
