Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesA FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Steelers: B.

The war room fell hard for Tanor Bortolini, and it showed at No. 103: 86 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.

The Arnold value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots went begging.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
Pick51 Rnd2 Terrion Arnold
Somehow Terrion Arnold was still sitting there in pick 51, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick61 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in the 61st overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick84 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette is a better player than slot 84 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick89 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
Nothing to complain about; Calen Bullock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103 Rnd4 Tanor Bortolini
A want over a need in No. 103: Tanor Bortolini adds an offensive lineman while interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick104 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Steal is underselling it; Khyree Jackson at the 104th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick137 Rnd5 Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler at the 137th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
