Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Saints worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

Nobody had Zion Tupuola-Fetui this high, and it is not close. The Saints reached 45 spots to get him at Round 5, Pick 34. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Getting Bullock where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The Saints clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In No. 23 they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
They did well to land Keon Coleman in pick 45, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick51 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
No drama and no debate, Braden Fiske went about where he belonged in pick No. 51. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick108 Rnd4 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at the 108th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick119 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
A reasonable price with a little left over, Elijah Jones in Round 4, Pick 19. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
A premium they did not need to pay, Tommy Eichenberg a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick150 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
Good price on Mason McCormick in slot 150, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick168 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in pick 168 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
A big swing on Zion Tupuola-Fetui at No. 170, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jase McClellan
They talked themselves into Jase McClellan at Round 5, Pick 39, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick178 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
A slide stopped in the 178th pick, with Dwight McGlothern worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick190 Rnd6 Erick All
Erick All at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick199 Rnd6 Myles Murphy
A real head-scratcher, Myles Murphy in the 199th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick239 Rnd7 Tarheeb Still
By-the-book stuff, Tarheeb Still at pick No. 239 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
