Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Grand theft in pick 234: the Raiders steal Jones and grade out a B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Raiders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. With edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
No edge and no loss on Kool-Aid McKinstry in the 19th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick46 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
Nothing to complain about; Byron Murphy II went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick51 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They paid a round early for Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick77 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at pick No. 77, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Tommy Eichenberg while clear needs at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
Pick117 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Cedric Gray in slot 117 leaves edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots for later.
Pick150 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at Round 5, Pick 14 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick190 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at slot 190 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick234 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
Steal is underselling it; Sheridan Jones at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
