Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Jones: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. Christian Jones, the No. 183 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 7, Pick 12. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Every board in the league had DeJean lower, and that gap is the story.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value.
Pick9
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the 9th pick they get an island corner, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 13: Keon Coleman for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick75
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
Steal is underselling it; Patrick Paul at the 75th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick110
Rnd4
Caelen Carson
They barely believed it either: Caelen Carson still on the board at No. 110. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
They read the board right and Jamari Thrash was the payoff at pick No. 125. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick146
Rnd5
Mike Sainristil
They let Mike Sainristil come to them and pounced at slot 146. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick232
Rnd7
Christian Jones
Christian Jones in pick 232 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
