Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B+
ValueA NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
The Bengals cashed the board's mistake on Skattebo: B+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Cam Skattebo had no business being available in No. 191, and the Bengals did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the 27th overall pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 T.J. Sanders
A slide stopped in No. 50, with T.J. Sanders worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Nice patience on Xavier Watts, who had no business lasting to pick 59. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick81 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at pick No. 81 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Steal is underselling it; Tate Ratledge at Round 3, Pick 27 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in the 117th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick136 Rnd4 Mason Taylor
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in slot 136, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick152 Rnd5 Devin Neal
Devin Neal at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick191 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in pick 191, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick210 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board fumbled Dont'e Thornton Jr. all the way to pick No. 210, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
