H DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

The Jaguars cashed the board's mistake on Clark: B. Somebody in No. 211 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jaguars sat still while De'Corian Clark, the No. 192 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. They are betting Nugent proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In No. 17 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at the 48th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 15 with a little surplus value in Johnny Wilson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at the Round 3 slot that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick114
Rnd4
Max Melton
They paid sticker price for Max Melton in pick No. 114, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent in the 116th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick155
Rnd5
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at slot 155 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A straight-up fair deal on Gabe Hall at pick 195, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick211
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick237
Rnd7
Fentrell Cypress II
Fentrell Cypress II in Round 7, Pick 17 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
