FutureA
Larceny in pick 244 lands the Falcons a B-, Stout and all. When a board-topper like Upton Stout slides to the 244th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Falcons did not. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Reaching for Turner left real value on the table behind him.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In slot 30 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Good price on Jihaad Campbell in Round 2, Pick 14, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick117
Rnd4
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner in pick 117 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt at the 171st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
They let Luke Lachey come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244
Rnd7
Upton Stout
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 244 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
