FutureA+
The phones sank the Bears this weekend: C. The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. For now it grades a C, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Turner falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The Frazier pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
If Rome Odunze and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka is a better player than No. 33 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick35
Rnd2
Dallas Turner
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dallas Turner at the Round 2 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65
Rnd3
Cooper DeJean
A clean, defensible pick in pick 65 with a little surplus value in Cooper DeJean. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick74
Rnd3
Zach Frazier
A premium they did not need to pay, Zach Frazier a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick101
Rnd4
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie in the 101st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick110
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at slot 110 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick126
Rnd4
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at the 126th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
