Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Buccaneers: B.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Buccaneers never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. No fireworks, but a solid B.

Hartman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every board in the league had McGregor lower, and that gap is the story. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Jared Verse
Jared Verse is a better player than the Round 1 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 3 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Value with a capital V on Mike Sainristil in the 89th overall pick, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick113 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
They paid sticker price for Tyrice Knight in No. 113, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick127 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sataoa Laumea in the 127th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick147 Rnd5 Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha at slot 147 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick204 Rnd6 Braiden McGregor
They paid a round early for Braiden McGregor in pick 204, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick244 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman slid further than he should have, and pick No. 244 is lovely value for the quarterback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick255 Rnd7 Maurice Smith
Maurice Smith at Round 7, Pick 35 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
