Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Chiefs won the night they stopped Harden from sliding. Grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Myles Harden at pick 221 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The Boyd pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 64 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick95 Rnd3 Max Melton
They barely believed it either: Max Melton still on the board at the 95th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick131 Rnd4 Caedan Wallace
They took Caedan Wallace at par in the 131st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick159 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
A wild overpay on Khristian Boyd in No. 159, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick173 Rnd5 Rasheen Ali
A real head-scratcher, Rasheen Ali in pick 173 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick221 Rnd7 Myles Harden
Myles Harden in slot 221 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
