FutureB-
Larceny in Round 2, Pick 17 lands the 49ers a B, Warren and all. Thirty-one other rooms let Tyler Warren slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at No. 49. Highway robbery.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Powell-Ryland to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick49
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Circle this one: Tyler Warren at pick No. 49 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in the 75th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo slid further than he should have, and pick 100 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jared Wilson at the 113th overall pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick138
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams slipping to slot 138 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick147
Rnd5
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A premium they did not need to pay, Antwaun Powell-Ryland a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick160
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
They paid sticker price for Ty Robinson in No. 160, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Ricky White III
Ricky White III in the 227th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa is a better player than Round 7, Pick 33 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick252
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
By-the-book stuff, Teddye Buchanan at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
