FutureB-
Larceny in the Round 3 slot lands the Commanders a B+, Scott and all. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Justin Scott slide 47 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Adding Chris Olave by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa
A slide stopped in No. 24, with Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick46
Rnd2
Trey'Dez Green
Trey'Dez Green at pick 46 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick72
Rnd3
Justin Scott
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Justin Scott in Round 3, Pick 8, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88
Rnd3
Chris Peal
Chris Peal at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110
Rnd4
Greg Johnson
Greg Johnson in slot 110 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick120
Rnd4
Josh Hoover
They did well to land Josh Hoover in the 120th pick, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145
Rnd5
Earl Little Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Earl Little Jr. at the 145th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick188
Rnd6
Braelin Moore
Fair-plus on Braelin Moore, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick229
Rnd7
Aaron Flowers
Aaron Flowers in Round 7, Pick 8 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
