Mondon Jr. should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a D.

Nobody had Ozzy Trapilo this high, and it is not close. The Texans reached 52 spots to get him at slot 89.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Mondon Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
