erformc DRAFTING FOR THEEagles
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Eagles a B. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Eagles did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Bowman Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They banked enough surplus on Brown to cover a lot of smaller sins. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 32nd pick they get a disruptive interior force, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64
Rnd2
Jared Ivey
A conviction pick on Jared Ivey at the 64th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick96
Rnd3
Billy Bowman Jr.
A reach on Billy Bowman Jr. in No. 96; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick134
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
They read the board right and Cobee Bryant was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick161
Rnd5
Logan Brown
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 23: Logan Brown for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick164
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in pick No. 164 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick165
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at pick 165 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick168
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Dont'e Thornton Jr. at slot 168, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
