Grant DRAFTING FOR THECardinals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cardinals a B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Rylie Mills; the Cardinals did not wait, grabbing him 22 spots ahead at pick 115.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Rourke. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick47
Rnd2
Trey Amos
No edge and no loss on Trey Amos in slot 47; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick78
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at the 78th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick115
Rnd4
Rylie Mills
A real head-scratcher, Rylie Mills in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick152
Rnd5
Kurtis Rourke
They let Kurtis Rourke come to them and pounced at the 152nd pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick225
Rnd7
Karene Reid
Karene Reid slipping to No. 225 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
