Biggs DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears won the night they stopped Skattebo from sliding. Grade: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Cam Skattebo at the 197th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the 10th overall pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
They let Tate Ratledge come to them and pounced at slot 39. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in No. 41 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72
Rnd3
Deone Walker
A tidy little value on Deone Walker in the 72nd pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147
Rnd5
Kevin Winston Jr.
You do not let a safety like Kevin Winston Jr. reach Round 5, Pick 10 and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick197
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick233
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
Somehow Ollie Gordon II was still sitting there in pick No. 233, and they pounced on premier running back value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jared Wilson
They robbed the room for Jared Wilson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
