Hunter DRAFTING FOR THEBears

FutureB-
Zvada should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bears watched Dominic Zvada slide 138 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They will need McLaughlin to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Tate Ratledge
No drama and no debate, Tate Ratledge went about where he belonged in slot 30. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant is a better player than Round 2, Pick 7 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick41
Rnd2
Grey Zabel
Grey Zabel in the Round 2 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick55
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at the 55th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick72
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in the 72nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick107
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 107 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at pick 147 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick193
Rnd6
Miles Frazier
A premium they did not need to pay, Miles Frazier a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick233
Rnd7
Dominic Zvada
They will replay Dominic Zvada at Round 7, Pick 17 for years; that is how good the value is. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at pick No. 240 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
