Draft Grade — Packers
Overall

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. There is reaching, and then there is Evan Anderson at pick 246. The Packers jumped the board by 27 and dared it to prove them wrong.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. It is not that Gray is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first. Getting Barton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kamren Kinchens
In pick 25 they get a ballhawk on the back end. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Graham Barton at the 41st pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick57
Rnd2
Josh Newton
No drama and no debate, Josh Newton went about where he belonged in pick No. 57. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92
Rnd3
Marist Liufau
A reasonable price with a little left over, Marist Liufau in slot 92. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick95
Rnd3
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at Round 3, Pick 32 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick125
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in the 125th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick132
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at pick 132 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A want over a need in No. 135: Cedric Gray adds a linebacker while quarterback and tight end keeps waiting.
Pick203
Rnd6
Jalen Green
They paid sticker price for Jalen Green in the 203rd pick, and that is fine. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick217
Rnd6
J.J. Weaver
By-the-book stuff, J.J. Weaver at Round 6, Pick 42 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219
Rnd6
Marcus Harris
They paid a round early for Marcus Harris in pick No. 219, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick246
Rnd7
Evan Anderson
A big swing on Evan Anderson at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
