Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureC+
The Lions fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Lions should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick60 Rnd2 Josh Newton
No edge and no loss on Josh Newton in the 60th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick73 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
By-the-book stuff, Mekhi Wingo at Round 3, Pick 9 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick165 Rnd5 Layden Robinson
Good price on Layden Robinson in slot 165, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick206 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
A clean, defensible pick in No. 206 with a little surplus value in Roger Rosengarten. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick249 Rnd7 Demani Richardson
Demani Richardson at pick No. 249 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
