Grand theft in the Round 2 slot: the 49ers steal Slaughter and grade out a B.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Jake Slaughter, the No. 34 name on the board, sitting there at pick 54 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The Keenan III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
