Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureA+
The Commanders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Commanders, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
The cost of the Moore reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
The Ponds steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Brandon Cisse
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brandon Cisse in pick 38. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
Steal is underselling it; D'Angelo Ponds at pick No. 69 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick71
Rnd3
Max Klare
A tidy bit of business in the 71st pick, where Max Klare graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick74
Rnd3
Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore at slot 74 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick109
Rnd4
Caden Curry
No edge and no loss on Caden Curry in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick145
Rnd5
Skyler Gill-Howard
A clean, defensible pick in No. 145 with a little surplus value in Skyler Gill-Howard. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185
Rnd6
Matt Gulbin
Nothing to complain about; Matt Gulbin went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick196
Rnd6
Kaleb Elarms-Orr
The board had Kaleb Elarms-Orr higher than Round 6, Pick 17, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick223
Rnd7
Isaiah Jatta
They talked themselves into Isaiah Jatta at Round 7, Pick 7, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
